An Interesting Product Matchup: JUUL-Compatible THC Pods vs. 510 Vape Carts

When it comes to vaping cannabinoids and terpenes, today’s enthusiasts have more options to choose from than ever before.  Between disposables, cartridges, bottled e-liquids, pods, and more, it can be tough to pick which vape setup is right for your needs.  While the most important thing to focus on is, obviously, the quality of the cannabinoids and terpenes in the product, at the same time, the vehicle matters – whether that be a 510-threaded cartridge, or, say, a vape pod that’s compatible with a JUUL device.

Breaking Down the Two Methods for Vaping Hemp

First, we gotta cover the principles of vaping hemp, regardless of the product type you select.  To vaporize cannabinoids and terpenes, you need a device which contains a battery inside, and that battery provides heat to the coil inside of the cartridge/pod.  By heating the coil, the vape oil inside converts from a liquid to a vapor, which can be inhaled through the mouthpiece.  The vape oil itself contains cannabinoid and terpene extracts, offering a full-spectrum hemp experience.

All hemp vapes come in a variety of strains, so that you can choose between various indica, hybrid, and sativa options based on the more specific types of effects that you wanna feel – whether those be more relaxing, more uplifting, or somewhere in between.  Whichever of the two vaping types you decide on, we always encourage our customers to take the time to read about the strains available, to find the one that best suits their particular goals.

Now, let’s compare vape carts to vape pods.

510 Vape Carts

Vape carts, aka cartridges, are 510-threaded glass cartridges that are cylindrical in shape.  They contain vape oil and a coil inside, just like pods, and have a chimney-like mouthpiece that concentrates the vapor beautifully.  They attach universally to most 510-threaded vape pens.  These pens contain a battery and are rechargeable.  The cart itself is disposable, as once the vape oil runs out, the cart itself is replaced.

Pros:

  • Compatible with 510 Vape Pens: 510-threaded vape pens are compatible with 510 vape carts, and they’re relatively easy to find on the market, being the standard for hemp vapes. They come in all kinds of options, with various battery capacities, and some have adjustable voltage/wattage as well.
  • Tapered Mouthpiece for More Concentrated Vapor: Vape carts have an elongated, tapered mouthpiece, which is very ergonomic, but also serves to concentrate the vapor as it makes its way into the mouth, for a stream of thicker, more flavorful vapor.
  • Wider Selection of Cannabinoids: Because vape carts are the more popular choice between the two, you’ll find a wider selection of cannabinoids and cannabinoid blends than what you’ll find with JUUL-compatible pods, offering the full variety of cannabinoids that exist on today’s market.
  • Wider Selection of Strains: You’ll also be able to try out a wider selection of strains, as again, vape carts are more common than vape pods, meaning there’s more variety out there.

Cons:

  • Can Potentially Break: Because vape carts are made from glass, they may break if they’re not handled properly. The glass is extremely durable Pyrex, so it’s not that fragile, but glass can break if it’s dropped from a high distance, or if it gets a direct hit from another object.
  • Setup Can Be a Bit Larger Than Other Vaping Setups: Standard 510 vape cart/510 vape pen setups are just a little bigger than other setups, including JUUL setups, so that’s something to be aware of if you’re looking for the smallest, slimmest, and most pocket-friendly option.

JUUL-Compatible Vape Pods

Next up, we have JUUL-compatible pods, which look identical to JUUL pods – aka, the pods that come with a JUUL vaping system made for nicotine.  Rather than contain nicotine-infused e-liquid, they contain hemp vape oil, and they attach to any JUUL device that you buy at the convenience store.

Pros:

  • Compatible with JUUL Devices: The big convenience factor with THC pods is that they’re compatible with JUUL devices, so if you already have a JUUL device, you don’t need to buy a whole new setup. Of course, this also means that using a JUUL setup for your THC pods is more discreet, since people will assume you’re vaping nicotine.
  • More Portable Setup: JUUL systems are very portable, since they’re slim, compact, and slip into any pocket easily.
  • Shatterproof: While glass vape carts are durable, like we said, they are more likely to break than JUUL pods, if mishandled, so that’s something to keep in mind.

Cons:

  • Smaller Selection of Cannabinoids: Again, JUUL-compatible pods are less common than 510 carts, and so you shouldn’t expect to see as diverse a variety of cannabinoids to try in this format.
  • Smaller Selection of Strains: Also, the strains you’ll come across will be in a wider variety as well, because there are simply fewer JUUL-compatible hemp pods than 510 vape carts.
  • Requires a JUUL Device: If you don’t already own a JUUL device, you will need to purchase one. Of course, most convenience stores do carry them.
  • Lower Output: JUUL devices all have one battery capacity, which is relatively low, while 510 vape pen batteries come in various options. This means that in general, the clouds of vapor will be smaller with a JUUL setup.
